This weekend was so much fun.
1. April 1 is my work anniversary - in 1992, I left the office job and started freelancing, first as a scopist, and finally, in 1999, as a reporter. So last Friday was my 30th year as an independent contractor (I did still scope while I was working court, but nowhere near the volume I have had before or since).
2. Meeting a friend for a Crumbl Cookie catch-up was GREAT!!
3. Doing the Campbell Law mock depos was so much fun! Teaching "baby lawyers" about making the record with reporters is one of my passions. Going out for a meal after with my friends (see below photo) was a reaffirming moment!
4. Taught an Eclipse training to a new user on Sunday. I love seeing light-bulb moments when people begin to internalize how the software works. It makes my day! I love when people get inspired by their work and how the software can make them more efficient.
5. I went to the winery to listen to some great music, hang out with the owners, and have some food truck tacos.
Work and Play... a great balance.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! And another Monday. I'm still dragging with the time change so I'm starting later in the day than normal. But I'm excited to start a new week with so many projects, a trip to convention, some consulting gigs, some volunteering. I think that's what I love so much about what we do, y'all. Every day, every week, every month can be an adventure! Ain't it grand? (Now I just need to find time for a nap)

You all know I love giving back... and I've been speaking at the local law school for many years now, sharing with the students who will be future litigators how they can work WITH court reporters to create a truly excellent record.
I love doing this - and if you have the chance, please consider doing it in your area. The "baby" lawyers appreciated it and the next generation of court reporters will too!
We all love rituals - girls nights, massages, regular workouts... but what about our working rituals?
Do you have any that ease you into your productivity? Perhaps alleviate any anxiety?
Our job as a stenographer (or captioners) is filled with stressors and if we can develop rituals for ourselves to help limit those stresses, think how healthy, happy, and productive we can become?!
